The City of Gold - Envious Architectural Marvel

Amazing Sri Lanka



From the Epic - Ramayana, an Envious Architectural Marvel - Ravana's Lanka/Sone ki Lanka/The city of Gold/Lion's Rock is marked as a world's heritage site at Sigiriya, Sri Lanka. The story revolves around Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati when got married, asked the deity of architecture vishwakarma to create a residence for them. Which was later gifted to Ravana - the demon king, was a great scholar, and worshipper of Lord Shiva. In treta yuga, the lanka, a large island country, located in Indian Ocean, got into existence. Lanka was the capital of lankapuri, surrounded by trikuta - the large mountain range.






The size of the city- 100 yojan long and 30 yojan broad
(one yojan = 8 miles/12.88 km)



or

800 miles long and 240 miles broad or 1288 km long and 386.4 km broad.

The central palace complex - the citadel dimensions are 1 yojan X .5 yojan X 1 yojan
